Monday 2/2 Agenda

Learning Goal: To understand and be able to describe the structure and function of the parts of a microscope.

1. Study the microscope quizlet (Quiz Wednesday) (20 minutes)

2. Go over microscope worksheet. If anything is labeled or described incorrectly, fix it. This will not be graded, it is just a tool for you to use to help you understand how to use the microscope.

3. Fill out this Self Evaluation


4. When you finish your self evaluation, you can challenge your table partner to see who can name the Quizlet word fastest by seeing the definition.

Learning Goal: To understand and be able to describe the structure and function of the cell membrane, and identify cell parts including the nucleus, chloroplasts, mitochondria, cell membrane, and cell wall.

1. The Magic of Cells Lesson 3: The Diversity of Cells

2. Finish/Play your Cells are Us game

3. Use the rubric to grade your gameboard with your partner. Turn in your graded rubric and gameboard.

4. While you are working on #3 above, I will call a few students at a time to use the microscopes to look at cells.

5. When you are finished, study the microscope quizlet

Learning Goal: To understand and be able to describe the similarities and differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

1. Watch The Magic of Cells: Lesson 1: What is a cell? (5 min)

2. Read textbook pp 118-119

3. In your notebook draw a Venn diagram comparing Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells. Then draw a simple sketch of each type of cell (include only the nucleus, DNA, cell membrane, cell wall, cytoplasm, and mitochondria).
